The Outside Lie; The Inside Cry

A tear, a sob, a cry, a scream;
Outside, I'm just the way I'm supposed to seem.
My every laughter, and every smile;
Inside, the joy lasts but for a while.

My face I plaster, a mask I wear;
Outside, I don't think the world even cares.
The different pains, and personal sorrows;
Inside, I wonder if I'll make it through tomorrow.

Dear Lord, how long more do I've to wait?
Outside, I try not to anticipate.
My God, how much more have I to take?
Inside, my heart has a deep certain ache.

Challenge after challenge I am put to face;
Sometimes I wish I wasn't in this place.
The tests He gives me, aren't ones I choose;
Truth be told, I have no position to refuse.

Time after time, He reminds me though,
These trials make me stronger, as I should know.
He works in ways one does not see,
And I think any other Christian would agree.

So despite all this, I'm proud to say,
My God is awesome, in every way.
He gave me friends, to help me through.
I'll be okay, as His Word says too.
